As of December 31, 2015, the United States had appropriated approximately $113.09 billion for relief and reconstruction in Afghanistan since fiscal year (FY) 2002. The President’s FY 2015 budget request, if appropriated, would add another $5.8 billion for the seven major reconstruction funds. The $5.8 billion requested for the seven major reconstruction funds for FY 2015 is approximately 9% lower than the amount appropriated these funds for FY 2014.
